BUSINESS & COMPUTER SCIENCE (BCS)

Overview: The Business and Computer Science program helps to prepare students to become successful participants in any field that conducts business in today’s society as well as to transition into post-secondary settings or the work force. Through a wide selection of courses, students in this concentration learn about finance, legal operations of business, administrative support, information management, international business, entrepreneurship, management, as well as computer programming and networking. Business-focused have the opportunity to start and run a school-based enterprise, such as a school store, as part of their coursework. Students will learn firsthand how to create and implement a successful business plan and manage people, products, and budgets. On the computer side of the concentration, students can work with the latest tools, software, and technologies in an innovative curriculum. Hands-on learning projects include building web pages, managing databases, and writing programming code. Students will also explore the ethical and privacy issues related to the use of computers and the internet. Students who choose a Business and Computer Science Pathway often continue their education at two-year or four-year colleges to study business administration, management, finance, accounting sales, or computer science. Every current and future Georgia company needs employees, managers, and executives with leading edge business and computer knowledge, skills, and experience.
