Wilkes County Schools is proud to announce that it has received accreditation from Cognia through June 2030. Cognia is a global nonprofit organization that provides accreditation and certification, assessment, and improvement services to educational institutions. This prestigious recognition reflects the district's commitment to excellence in education, continuous improvement, and student success.
The accreditation process thoroughly evaluated the district's educational practices, leadership, and learning environments. Wilkes County Schools met Cognia's rigorous standards, demonstrating the district's dedication to fostering a supportive and effective learning environment for all students.
Superintendent Michelle Smith expressed pride in the achievement, stating, "This accreditation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, staff, students, and the entire Wilkes County community. It reaffirms our commitment to providing high-quality education and continuous improvement in our schools."
The system’s final review report was released in July, and Wilkes County Schools earned a system IEQ (Index of Education Quality) score of 323. This score is also 27 points higher than the average score of 296 earned by other institutions that have undergone a Cognia review within the last five years.
