Welcome Parents!

We are pleased that your child is a student in our school system and welcome your input and involvement throughout your child's school career.  If you have specific questions about your child, please contact your child's teacher or principal for assistance.  We encourage you to be involved at your child's school.

Title I-A

Title I is a part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  This act provides federal funds through the Georgia Department of Education to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools with high numbers or percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards.

Local Educational Agencies target the Title I funds they receive to public schools with the highest percentages of children from low-income families. Title I is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to challenging State academic standards in order to reinforce and enhance efforts to improve teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support parental involvement.  Washington Wilkes Primary, Elementary and Middle Schools receive Title I funds under the School-wide Program.

To ensure that all parents of Title I students have the opportunity to be informed and involved in the planning, revision, and implementation of parental involvement activities, the Parental and Family Engagement Policy for Wilkes County has been posted for your review and comments.
